Download the DyneBridge Helper

Version 1.1.0 for Windows, Ubuntu, Fedora

The DyneBridge Helper is a small program that lets the DynePass Android app reach the DyneBridge extension over your local Wi-Fi. Your browser starts it when you pair and it exits when the transfer is done. It only ever handles encrypted data: only the extension can read your login details.

You also need the DyneBridge extension: Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons. Install the DyneBridge Helper on the same computer, then reopen the extension's popup.

Windows

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. For Google Chrome and Firefox.

  1. Run the installer. It installs the DyneBridge Helper for your Windows user only and doesn't need an administrator. Each Windows user who wants DyneBridge runs it once.
  2. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info, then Run anyway. The installer isn't code-signed yet, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen doesn't recognize it.
  3. The installer then asks Windows to check the helper, and Windows shows a Windows Security window about dynebridge-host. Leave the checkboxes as they are and click Allow. If you click Cancel, your phone can't connect: see I clicked Cancel.
  4. Open the DyneBridge extension on a login page and scan the QR code with DynePass.

To update, run the new installer over the old one. To remove it, use Settings → Apps and uninstall DyneBridge helper.

Don't double-click the downloaded file. Install it with this command, which finds the file wherever your browser saved it:

sudo apt install -y "$(find ~ -maxdepth 4 -name 'dynebridge_1.1.0_amd64*.deb' -print -quit)"

To run it, press the Windows key, type Terminal and press Enter. Paste the command with Ctrl+Shift+V, press Enter, then type your password (nothing shows as you type) and press Enter. If it ends with a note about _apt and "Permission denied", you can ignore it. If it says the package can't be found, download the file again into your Downloads folder.

Then open the DyneBridge extension on a login page and scan the QR code with DynePass. If your phone can't connect, check your firewall: see Linux firewalls.

In Firefox on Ubuntu 26.04, the first time you open DyneBridge, Ubuntu asks "Allow Firefox to start WebExtension backend?". Click Allow. If you clicked Don't allow or closed the question, see I clicked Don't allow.

To update, install the new package the same way. To remove the DyneBridge Helper: sudo apt remove dynebridge

Check your download

Every file's SHA-256 checksum is listed above and in SHA256SUMS. To check a download, compare it with the listed value.

Windows (PowerShell, in your Downloads folder):

Get-FileHash .\dynebridge-setup-1.1.0.exe -Algorithm SHA256

Ubuntu (in Terminal; it finds the file wherever your browser saved it and prints OK if it matches):

echo "ba5c5394d1caf30437923e97de0006f1f5b6b4e5b4909b3ce383a8aff32d097b $(find ~ -maxdepth 4 -name 'dynebridge_1.1.0_amd64*.deb' -print -quit)" | sha256sum -c

Fedora (the same way):

echo "148be14c2df089390743d8a6c43e20bf886a4b2a4ce06f29ad495dea38bb726c $(find ~ -maxdepth 4 -name 'dynebridge-1.1.0-1.x86_64*.rpm' -print -quit)" | sha256sum -c

If it prints FAILED, don't install the file: download it again.
